Soft Sweater Girl
Hollow
a soft step to the side
brush my cheek with your hand
from this bed you would fly
let the moon embrace you like a lover
a pale blue on the pillow
our dreams are soft and grey
we should have left this world as one
but something made me stayand now, seems your scent has left me
so all things must fade
these soft sweater girlsin lamplight leaves are turning
breath be still these painful days
these autumn dogs invade your sleeping
and these hollow men, they lead the way to the gravei set fire to the draperies
and i step outside to watch them burn
i wander down to the sea my love
from wence we came we must returni wrestle pearls from the sea my love
and i stack them for all to see
one by one on your tongue i gently place them
in hopes that riches they are the key to heavenand now it seems your scent has left me
so all things must fade
and now that winters jaws have gripped me
i’m still longing for the day
and my soft sweater girl
